When using #read to load a file the command char is set to the first character in the file.

If you want to change it mid session to (for example) a / you can use: #config {tintin char} {/}

Ah ok, that cannot be changed.

I'll add it to the todo list, but it might be a while before I look into it.

Thanks for getting back so soon Big Smile
I will just have to replace my delimiter from my jmc files and get use to using the semi colon again!

\say Hello ;-)

or

#send {Hello ;-)}

I'd love to see this become a #config option. The MUD I play uses the semicolon as the emote command, and adding a slash every time is somewhat easy to forget.

You could always make an alias:

#alias emote {\; %0}

or

#alias {:} {\; %0}

Is it possible to alias something that might occur midway through a string though?

An example being "chat :foo!", with the intent to send the emote 'foo!' over the chat channel. Would I have to make an alias for each channel?

Thinking about it you could use #config verbatim on and use ; normally, though in that case you couldn't use any aliases.

Another option is using tabs:

#tab {chat \;}
#tab {shout \;}

in which case you could type ch or sh and hit the tab to add \;

Regarding aliases, you'd have to make on for each channel, so:

#alias {chat :%0} {chat \;%0}
#alias {shout :%0} {shout \;%0}
