I am having trouble getting substitute to work as documented.

TinTin++ v1.5p19
Freebsd 4.10-STABLE #0

Connecting to the FreeBSD box via putty from Windows XP
Terminal-type: xterm

The game I am accessing is slothmud.
Code:
#ses Sloth slothmud.org 6101

I am trying to perform some very simple substitutions on the score command.

When score is typed the output is something like the following.

Code:
...
You are 17 years and 6 months old.
You are a citizen of Valkyre.
You are a devout worshipper of Blaster.
...

When I use the substitution

Code:
#sub {^You are a citizen of %1.} {Citizenship: %1}

there is no change when running the command.

Code:
#sub {You are a citizen of %1.} {Citizenship: %1}

works correctly.

I performed some additional tests on my characters name which is formatted as follows

Code:
Stratid the Titled  (level: 20)

Again a similar test as the first

Code:
#sub {^Stratid} {Test}

Fails, but a test such as

Code:
#sub {Stratid} {Test}

results in the entire line being substituted as

Code:
Test

instead of the desired

Code:
Test the Titled  (level: 20)

The first thing I am intersted in knowing if this is a bug, or if I have something misconfigured.

All of these results occur when I start TinTin++ without specifying an input file, and all commands are entered to TinTin++ while in game.

Thanks,
Dan

It's been a while since I used v1.5 and this board is really for the 1.96 version.

Depending on your needs you can try wintin++ which is a direct port with a rxvt terminal or try to update to 1.96. There's some info that might be useful when it comes to installing tintin++ here: http://tintin.sourceforge.net/install.php
