Hello.

I've recently started using the newest version of tt++, and I'm noticing some differences.

Sometimes when I check who-list to see who'se online, names and titles will get scrambeled, not EVERYTHING, but perhaps a couple of lines.

Same when I sometimes type "look" in a room. My characters and other people's characters names and titles will be scrambeled and/or incomplete.

Also, many of my triggers fail to trigger because the trigger-word appear AFTER the prompt. Example.

< 1000hp 1000mana 1000mv > Target is dead!

Now, I've got an #alias like this:
#alias {Target is dead!} {say Killed it!}

However, it wont trigger since the "Target is dead!" comes on the right side of "< 1000hp 1000mana 1000mv >".

Also, sometimes the prompt and stuff get scrambeled, in which case the trigger DOES work.
And when it does, it'll look something like this:

Target is dead!na 1000mv >

See how the text overlaps the prompt? This happens all the time, especially when theres allot of stuff happening. Lets say I'm in combat, and getting stuff from my containers, using stuff, using skills... The promt will be overlapped with every single thing I do.

Is there a function I have to turn on/off in order to stop this overlapping? I had NO such problems with the old 1.98.8 version of tt++.

Hrm, I searched around and found this:

#config {packet patch} {0.5}

I tried it, and it seems to make stuff appear as it should, at least on who-list.

Is there any way of permanently setting these #configs?

Like, I have to #config speedwalk on every time I logg on, with every character... Now I have to add this packet-patch to it allso. It is somewhat annoying, and its not something I had to do in 1.98.8.

There's some information about creating a startup script on the webpage:

http://tintin.sourceforge.net/starting.php

Another option is to edit .bash_profile or .bashrc and add:

alias tt++='tt++ -r $HOME/default.tin'

Then edit default.tin in your home directory and set all the defaults.

Scratch my comment concerning "#config {packet patch} {0.5}".
It didnt help any on the:
< 1000hp 1000mana 1000mv > Target is dead!

So, my question still stands... How can I prevent text that usually, or rather ALLWAYS shows at the very left margin of the screen, now appearing AFTER the promt or even scrambeled in the middle of the prompt back to normal at its correct place - alone in the left margin of the screen and not "all over the place, randomly at any given time"?

Anonybob.

EDIT: Thanks for login script help.

Best to change your prompt to contain a new line at the end, or enable GA if your MUD has that config option.

You can place your prompt on the split line using:

#prompt {<trigger matching the prompt>} {<text substitution>}

for example:

Code:

#prompt {~^%*<%*hp%*mana%*mv%*>%*} {%0}

K, I just tried this one, and it didnt do anything. If anything, it made certain text disapear all together, or show up after a couple of rounds of combat.
The: Target is dead! text appeared AFTER the prompt, and quickly disapeared. It did not trigger.

PS: What is this "GA" you are mentioning?

GA (Go Ahead) is a config option on some MUDs.

Easiest fix is probably adding a newline at the end of your prompt if your mud allows it.

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this has caused me ill as well. After poking around a bit, I've found that these issues only happen in #split mode. Garbled 'who' lists, lines of output following the mud prompt instead of on their own lines, etc. If I switch to #unsplit, all is well. So the issue is not on the server side. Something is going on with #split...
