I was thinking about ways to show an overview of the map by area. It would need some of the same functionality as #map travel. Essentially, each area would be its own virtual "room" and all connections between areas would be reduced to a single room when there is a chain of entry/exit rooms between with no third exit.
So:
Midgaard = Rivers = Rivers = Rivers = Rivers = Anon
becomes:
Midgaard = Rivers = Anon.
This would have the virtue of seriiously compressing the map and showing all the area connections. I haven't though about areas that serve as HUBs with a lot of deadend areas (like Mud School in Midgaard), but that could possibly be handled simply by listing deadend areaas as line items under the HUB zone. So in the above:
Midgaard ====== Rivers ===== Anon
*Mud School
*SEWERS
I was thinking of using a script language to produce this map, but thought I'd throw the idea out there in the hope that it resonates or maybe has already even been done by someone. |
