I was wanting to use #split but the problem is that my screen reader starts over from the begining everu time new output is received. When I stop splitting it works fine. Any way to fix this?[/u]

If there is a way to fix it, it will be though the screen reader.

Without going too much into the technical details: those lines are redrawn each time and the cursor is moved around to do it. This is what the screen reader triggers on. This is all part of the nature of how terminal emulators work.

No real way to fix it, but you can redraw the input line using ctrl-l
