im having troubles with the start up... i made the run.tin file and stuff but it doesnt log in when i type f1 and how do i save triggers ? and stuff?

What did you use for your macro key? If you used the same one from the Getting Started page, it probably won't work on your system. Some computer's keys are mapped differently within tintin. I believe you can use "#config meta on" to see what the key code for F1 is, or the new CRTL+K shortcut (not sure if that one is correct, or if it would even work on a mac either).

As for the saving of them, you can either save them by hand in the run.tin file yourself, or use tintin's "#write <YOUR_FILENAME_HERE>" to put them all into another file of your naming, or "#write run.tin" to just resave over your current file.

i use a mac too so ya... but how do i upload log so i can use triggers ?

You shouldn't have to upload any kind of log, just open your run.tin file in any text editor, and just type in the triggers you want, like

and save the file, then open tintin using run.tin, and your trigger should be loaded and ready every time you use the run.tin file.

Also, if you create some triggers (called Actions in tintin) while playing the mud, and want to save them, use

#write temp.tin


to save everything to a file named "temp.tin". Then, you can open this file in a text editor, copy the #ACTION lines into your run.tin file, and you should have those triggers from now on.

Just as a final side note, you can always change the run.tin file to be named whatever you want. I have a seperate file for every character I have, so all triggers stay seperate for individuals. I then have other commands that are common between characters saved in a common.tin file, and within each character file, I have right near the top

That way, if I think of something new that will benefit all characters, I just type it in one time, and all characters automatically get the new trigger/alias/macro/whatever, without me having to copy and paste it into 8 different files (and yes, I have that many characters. One one mud, no less...)

oops didnt mean to do that but why is it doing this #ERROR: #READ {run.tin} - COULDN'T OPEN THAT FILE.
with those triggers ?? arent those good ?

Again, not entirely sure how a Mac works, but it might be putting a filename extention on the end of the word, making the true name of the file run.tin.txt, or some such silliness. Other than that, I'm not sure, I copied and pasted all that to a file, and saved it as run.tin, and opened it with tintin. Worked like a charm, read everything and didn't miss a beat.

Make sure the file is in the same directory as run.tin. You can type: #system ls from within tintin to list all files in the same directory as well.

For the macro: Type: #macro {<press ctrl-v><press F1>} {#ses etc..}


Your script file is another problem. It's a Wintin95 script file which will need a bunch of modifications to work.

TinTin 1.5 Wintin and TinTin 1.9 all go differently about triggers within triggers. In 1.9 you use the 9th argument of the alias (%9) and use it as a filler. So when writing "%%91" the #alias is executed and replaces "%9" with "" (nothing) leaving %1 in the #gag.

If you edit it in the text file itself you can replace it with this:

TinTin mimics C and hence the "=" should be replaced with "==". The showme command also doesn't use highlight syntax, so you'll have to use tintin colors. See #help colors. Tintin doesn't have the #group command, but does have #class which is works somewhat different though. Also, if you use multi-line scripts use braces as much as possible.

The actions in the wizeye group are a bit too confusing to me, so I'd have to see some examples of how it works to produce a tintin compatible script for it.

In tintin you can use the #forall command to shorten this up:

}


Quote:

You could use tintin color codes here or replace the squares with \e, though the above will work regardless.

Tintin no longer comes with the default ticker since it's useless on most muds. If it's of use on your mud however you can use the following to recreate it:

how would i put run.tin in the directory >??? cause when i type #system ls this comes up
#OK: EXECUTING 'ls'

When you open up a terminal, "pwd" will tell you what directory you're currently in. When you run tt++, make sure run.tin is in that directory. So if executing "pwd" gives
/home/bryton
Then your file should be
/home/bryton/run.tin
