Dear:
Background: MacOS/Linux , tintin v2.01.1, console charset GB2312/GB18030

I got one issues that the action do not currect response in some action.
example:
Code:

#ac {^『%1』}{#var cn %1;#showme $cn};
#showme {『小伙子』};
>

I try to compile source with : ./configure --enable-gbk or ./configure --enable-gb2312 or ./configure --enable-gb18030 , but failed.
Code:

>configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --enable-gb2312

chinese character code include: big5,gb2312,gbk,gb18030.
In short (big5+gb2312)=gbk<gb18030.

Help . Thanks.

I tried to solve the problem by the ref.

download tintin-beta.tar.gz, ./configure --enable-big5 ,#config charset BIG5 ..., but failed.

Maybe big5 charset diff gb2312/gbk.

Any other suggestions?Thanks.

I'm not going to add GB support. Maybe look into software that'll convert GB to BIG5 or UTF-8.

Not adding GB support may be counter productive as it limits the Far Eastern places that can use TinTin++ - I cannot say I am aware of any software that I guess would have to act as a telnet/MUD protocols aware proxy between TinTin++ and the MUD Server!

IIRC GBK can be covered by the BMP (the first Plane of Unicode) and can be encoded into UTF8 - the most convenient trans-coding list is that of the ICU Project's Authoritative table which give the one or two byte GBK (two byte sequences have the MSB bit set in the first byte) - it ought to be possible to do that trans-coding in the TinTin++ code, provided that a two-byte glyph split between two packets is handled correctly - but if you are going to do that you may just as well go the whole hog and handle the full GB18030 which is a super-set that can use up to four bytes per glyph...

Whilst I haven't been around here much recently I have been looking at this for another MUD client (which can now, finally display UTF-8 {thereby lagging TinTin++ by some years Wink}, but does not yet properly handle it for triggers and other purposes...)
