Some flavors of BSD wil require tinexp.c to have the following line in order to compile:
Code:
#include <sys/types.h>

And, when running a #regexp command, the true and false conditions are executed appropriately but the matched substrings don't work:
Code:
#regexp {bli bla blo} {bli (.*) blo} {#showme &1}
(nu

#regexp {bli bla blo} {bli (.*) blo} {#showme &0}
(null)

It works fine on slackware, do you get the errors with the pre-compiled linux binary as well, assuming it works?

The compilation problem involved the definition of regoff_t

FreeBSD with the linux compatibility package runs it fine. Compiling the source code under linux-free FreeBSD is another matter.
